XP and downloaded files

When I try to download a program from the internet, I
can,t find the file. In my old version (win98) I was
given the option of where I wanted to download to, but I
don't get that option with XP. What am I doing wrong.

Locate the file type in Windows Explorer, under TOOLS menu|FOLDER
OPTIONS|FILE TYPES tab.

Click on ADVANCED and checkmark the "confirm on download" box.

You still have an option,xp text to where its going
with it blends in,but any file or program youll see
C: with program files or temp files

You should get a prompt as to what you would like to do
with a file u are downloading commonly that open > save
unless u have a third party software that automatically
manages ur downloads. Usually it will put them in a folder
called downloads... go to a website like cNet.com find a
program download it then do a search for the file and see
what folder it is save in and that will be ur download
folder
