xfering files & login?

Published my web site from a NEW computer and then went to the site to view
it. When I attempted to view an excel file a window would appear saying
"Transferring File" and I was asked to login with my user name and password
(used to publish). Canceling would permit me to view the file.

These windows do NOT appear when I attempt to view the files from other
computers so it must be IE 6.0 specific on the new computer.

Any ideas which settings need to be changed in order to eliminate the
windows/login request?

It is possible you may have parasites on your system causing the
problem, malware or spyware. Download, install, update and run the programs
below. They are free and very effective. Be sure to run both SpyBot and
Adaware, as what one does not detect the other may. Follow the directions
carefully.

Few days ago I come across a simlar problem. Finally I found that the length of the URL with the parameters was too long. More precisely, the mechanism didn't like one of the parameters (within a longer title string). I dont know why, but after encoding this long string (and then decoding on the other side) it started to work. My impression is that there was something around the length of the URL

Not possible. New machine. Firewall and virus software installed before
gaining access to Net.

Not possible. Other machine with IE 6 accesses the files just fine. It's
the new machine with IE 6 that is having the problem.
