can't go past login page

I go to a login area on a webpage and enter my username and password. click
login and the page just refreshes and does not go to the page it should
display(the control panel)

I have emailed the website operators and they say it works for them. They
suggested clearing history, cookies, etc. did that. It does work using
another browser (firefox) and also works using IE7 on another pc. So that
shuld eliminate the site being bad and bringing it back to my pc and IE.

I had updated to IE7, thought that might be issue, so I reset that back to
initial settings, no good. I then uninstalled IE7 and went back to IE6, same
results.

It's like the browser is not sending the username and password to the site?

IE Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Sites > type in the domain name
(e.g., msn.com) > Allow all cookies.

I added the domain name/s and allow, they are now on the list of allowed but
still no luck. I have been able to access bank info and other sites that
require a username and password. This is the only site I find that I cannot
get it to work. Yet it works on my other 2 pc's so it must be something with
IE6...upgrading to IE7 did not help.

What kind of login? If it is just userid and password in a form
is AutoComplete involved? Which security zone?

FWIW I see symptoms like this when I forget that I have been
experimenting with High-Level security on the Internet zone.
Switching back to Default Level lets the site work normally.

There are some things that RIES doesn't initialize properly:

Which protocol? If it's HTTP you could check on that possibility using
FiddlerTool. If it's HTTPS diagnostics are more limited; FiddlerTool
has an additional option called RPASpy which would at least let you see
the underlying URLs being requested.
