Thanks, man!

Did you purposely include my sig into your reply? XN is supposed to
strip the sig and I can see it is configured properly in my other posts.

By the way, feel free to send e-mail if you need more tips. XN will
also reply by e-mail if you have a Google account. It is tricky to set
up but can be done.

Anybody know how to stop all headers from showing up everytime I log on
to a NG? I've got <view> to show only read msgs. I also have it set to
<mark all msgs read when exiting> Frustrating settings.........

I have been using XanaNews for 4 months now after trying every
other newsreader I could download. It is an excellent
newsreader and very fast compared to the favorites around here
like Xnews and Dialog. Try it out for yourself and see if you
don't end up using it more often than your current one. It
also has two forums where you can discuss the program with an
author who takes suggestions and is responsive to support
questions.

Still impressed, but why must one keep telling it to hide Read
messages? I would think this would be a sticky setting.

If I am understanding you correctly, you are asking this question
because you are having this problem? If this is so then your
configuration must be wrong. I do not set the option to hide read
messages but have tried it out and it works fine.

Yes, that's it. Since it has a menu function to do this I didn't
think there would be a setting for it as well. One is sticky and
the other isn't.

Thanks,
Paul

Thanks,

The menu function allows you to toggle back and forth between the
permanent setting. I use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+H to change the
view to Unread or All messages. CTRL+M is good for jumping to the next
message in a thread I have participated in. If you choose, you can
also configure the keyboard shortcuts themselves.

I cannot speak to that since I do not frequent binary groups.

I'd rather not speak but I do frequent binary groups. Same finding as
you, Paul. Not sure why but I've defaulted back to the ol' Mozilla. I
do remember 40tude being quite decent.

Very, very slow as compared to Agent even with DSL. I deleted it!

I don't deny that is your experience but I find that hard to believe.
It is possible a setting was wrong or it was configured incorrectly. I
have tried almost every single free newsreader and have found XanaNews
to be among the fastest. I cannot vouch for binary groups, but for
text groups it is a speed demon as far as I'm concerned.

Yes probably for text groups I can imagine it being quite fast. As for
binaries XanaNews is hopeless. I am sticking with Xnews which I have used
for quite a few years now.

'remove'? as in, 'send to guantanamo?'

Unfortunately, not. It notes that the bozo has paid his debt to
society, and lets him out of the Bozo Bin.
