X1800XT Crossfire Axed

Anybody hear that ATI has shut down making anymore X1800XT crossfires ?
 
To make matters more interesting, X1900XT Crossfire cards are already
available, in stock.
 
No, they are not compatible. This is ATi's dual-card strategy failing.

On the other hand, take a look here:

In all but two of the games tested, the X1800XT Crossfire setup did not
allow gameplay at a higher resolution or AA setting over a single X1900XTX.
In NFS Most Wanted, the single X1900XTX was actually "faster".

Most games can already boogie at 1600x1200 with 4x AA on a single X1900XTX,
yet X1800XT Crossfire isn't fast enough to allow for 6x AA, so getting a
second X1800XT may be moot.
