I have Sound Blaster X-fi High Fidelity and I can't find drivers for it to
save my life. I checked creative labs website as well as dell as I have a XPS
400. The sound crackles and sometimes quits, not while runing music but
games. Specificly WoW and Age of Empires. Anyone else have this problem if so
how did you fix it.

Also note i tried all the new drivers on the Creative Labs site and they
cause the card to no longer work.

You can't find X-Fi High Fidelity drivers. But I can't find anything
named "X-Fi High Fidelity" on the Creative or Dell site. I did find
this in Wikipedia:

Current X-Fi line-up
X-Fi Elite Pro
X-Fi Fatal1ty
X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series (added in October 2006)
X-Fi XtremeGamer (added in October 2006)
X-Fi Platinum
X-Fi XtremeMusic
X-Fi Xtreme Audio (added in October 2006)
X-Fi Digital Audio (added in October 2006)

Is one of those yours? I have the X-Fi Xtreme Audio and it's running
fine in XP and Vista. I even have it producing nice sound in Win2K.

I first tried the Fidelity and they wouldn't install. I installed the
Extreme Music and my sound now works. They can be found on the Creative
Site.

Extreme music. Hmm I will have to give that one a go. But I can't find the
high fi anywhere either. Funny thing with the xps I orderd intergrated sound
(im cheap) but they put it in anyway. Thanks for the help, the other drivers
killed my sound completly so I only tried 1 or 2.

Anyway having any troubles with Vista Patches / updates in the last few
days?
Vista would no fully boot, it would get to the point just before log in
screen would show. I ran Safe mode and tried a windows restore, didn't fix
problem, used the repair option off Vista DVD and it found a error in a
patch although did not say which one and attempted to repair it, still
didn't work, so I did a fresh install of Vista and guess what once it ran
and did the automatic updates ( with no other software installed) same
problem occurred, so I did another fresh install this time turning off
automatic updates and now it's fine. I'm going to report this to MS not
good, 5 years in development and we get this.
I don't dare run Updates until I find out what is going on.

Post reply or email me back if you have had a similar problem and know how
to fix it.

Cheers
Phil
