wtools.exe error message

I keep getting an hour glass attached to my curser when starting Windows XP,
after several minutes I get the message:- WToolS.exe has encountered a
problem and needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience. send error report
to Microsoft. any ideas what has gone wrong, and how I can correct this.
