wrong image type

I'm using IE6 on Windows Me. Until recently, when I did a "Save picture as"
(right-click), the file name and type shown in the dialog box were the same
as what was shown in the address bar. Now, as of the last few days, it
always shows the file type as .bmp with no file name, even if the address
bar shows it as another type, e.g. abcd.jpg. I can't find any setting that
controls this. Can anyone help?

BTW, this started happening with IE5.5, so I upgraded to IE6 and it didn't
help.

That happens when the Temporary Internet Files are too full. In IE click
Tools | Internet Options. Click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet
files section of the General tab. On the nest window place a check mark in
the box to Delete all offline content.
