Wrong icon picture

Hello,

I used MaxBlast4 to clone a Hard Disk Drive to a new one. After that, some
icons pictures disappeared (to the new one). For example, the default MP3
icon & mpeg icon, change to the icon that indicates a unknown program
(although it can open properly). Also, in -> tools -> files options -> file
types in registry, I can see many icons which don't have their "own"
picture, but the one that indicates a unknown program.
How can I "restore" the original icon picture?
(WindowsXP Home SP2 with all latest updates)

Thank you

See if repairing the icons using Tweak UI helps.
TweakUI v2.10 for Windows XP SP1/XP MCE/2003 [147 KB].
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Note that Tweak UI sometimes sets incorrect data to the Shell Icon BPP
registry value, and might cause the icons look like Windows 9x classic
style. If you experience the problem after running TweakUI, use these steps:

Open Registry Editor and navigate to the following key:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics]

In the right-pane, double-click Shell Icon BPP and set it's value to 16

Close Registry Editor.

Hello and thank you for your answer.
I used Tweak UI 2.10.0.0 and the "Repair" -> "Rebuild Icons" option, but
none of the "unknown program" icons change. MP3 file icon is still the same.
I would appreciate another ideas.
Thank you.

There is a hidden file named Iconcache.db in this folder. Deleting the file
might help.

%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data

Type the exact path in Start-Run dialog.

I'm running out of ideas. Is the problem seen only for .mp3 & .mpeg types?
If so, let's inspect the association settings.

Hello,
The file that you indicate (iconcache.db), give me the change to do some
searching and I found a lot of similar cases. But nothing help so far.
No, there are more types, like NeroMIX and details file, but MP3 and mpeg
are the most disturbing.
Another thing, is that although jpeg picture opens with Windows viewer (I
have set it that way), it took the picture of "Microsoft Office Picture
Manager" when I made the installation of Microsoft Office 2003 and I can't
change it.
Thank you.

Really weird problem. Sorry I have no further ideas, except doing a Remote
assist.

Hello,

To "files oprions" -> "files types at registry" I managed to change the
icons of MP3, WMV, mpeg etc.
I had a correct picture (WMDB file), so I click on "for advanced" -> "change
icon" and although a came across with an error message (can't find file
C:\PROGRAM~1\WINDOW~3\wmplayer.exe) I could change the picture.
I will do some search, for the above error, later.
Now I am looking for the correct jpeg file. Unfortunately I can't see it, as
I was able to do with WMDB file icon.

Thank you for your suggestions.
