WRONG FORMAT

I have set up a link to an excel spreadsheet...it looks like while creating
the link access has recogised a text column as numeric, causing some of the
data to be missing from my reports!

I'm pretty sure that Access determines the type of a field from Excel by
looking at the first few rows - I suspect your Excel spreadsheet has got
some numbers up there instead of text characters. If you have access to the
spreadsheet, try formatting the whole column as text and re-entering the
first few cells of the relevant column...
