Wrong email program opens....

I have a user who was using MSN for I-net access for about
6 months. They are now using a local ISP and OE 6 for
their email client. When they click the envelope on the
tool bar and choose: Send a link..., Send a page..., or
New Message... an attempt is made to connect to MSN. If
they choose New Mail from the same button, OE opens. If
they choose these same options from the Tools, News and
Mail option, the same thing happens. If they choose File,
New, Message, a connection to MSN is attemtped again.

I verified in Tools, Internet Options, Programs, that OE
is set to the default mail program.

Any ideas?

AFAIK the usual steps (and even the unusual ones) for correcting this aren't
working after MSN8 has been installed, Dave. It's a known bug. I suspect
the user will need to either Repair/Reinstall IE
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378 or reinstall WinXP-SP1.

Uninstalling MSN8 doesn't seem to help at all.

Thanks. I'll see if this works. You are right, if all else
fails, reinstall.
