Today I bought a new computer and I have the store install the software for
me. And when I took it home today I noticed when they registered the computer
for me, they spelled my name wrong. And I don't know how to fix this. It
really bugs me because I keep seeing my name spelled wrong. I tried useing
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310441
But it did not help. When I go to C:\Documents and Settings\
Their is still a folder with my name spelled wrong on it and when I try to
change the name Windows will not let me. What can I do? I also tried making
another account. Do I have to reinstall Windows people they added one more
letter to my name then they should have? Because that would be a lot of work
for me and I really dont like how they spelled it wrong.

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can use
Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some read
the registered owner information dynamically, while others read it only
during installation.

The user profile folders (C:\Documents and Settings\Username)
_cannot_ be renamed, even if the associated user account has been. So,
your best course of action would be to log on using the built-in
Administrator account, create a new user account, with the username
desired. You can then delete the old user account(s).

Bruce forgot to mention that after you create the new user acount (spelled
correctly) move all of the documents, photos, and other files that you need
into the newly-created folder. Once you delete the old user account (wrong
spelling) you will no longer be able to accesss those folders or data.

Being that is a "fresh" install, you probably won't have a lot of stuff to
move out of the old folders...

Good luck.
