Exponents and other scientific notation can be produced using the
Superscript and Subscript font properties. You can access these from the
Font dialog or use the following keyboard shortcuts:
Superscript: Ctrl+Shift+=
Subscript: Ctrl+=
Both these shortcuts are toggles; press once to turn the formatting on,
again to turn it off.
Most fonts also include glyphs for superscripted 2 and 3, and some include
all the numbers.
The keyboard shortcut for a degree symbol is Ctrl+@, Spacebar. That is,
Press Ctrl, Shift, and 2 simultaneously, release, then press Spacebar. If
you use this character a lot, you may want to assign a different shortcut,
which you can do through the Insert | Symbol dialog: select the character,
then click on Shortcut Key... and enter your desired key combination.
