Writing CDs

Does anyone have a suggestion as to why the XP (on only a
couple of PCs) does not write to a CD. It comes up with
the correct option after inserting a blank CD-Rbut
immediately says the drive is inaccessible after clicking
OK. The drive seems to read CDs OK and has been working
with CD-RWs.

Is recording enabled for that drive? Right-click on the drive letter,
click PROPERTIES|RECORD tab, and take a look.

I mistakenly bought some CD's labeled for
use on drives labeled 'high speed', and they
did not work! Dug out a 'standard' r-w CD
& it was okay.

Do you have correct type CD?
