writing a dvd

Hello people,

I have a blu-ray writer on my laptop.
I have a 25gb rewritble blu-ray disc.

I have written a file on this disc which was only 20 mb.
I wanted to delete this file.

When I said erease disc to delete this file in roxio software,
it starts to erease and says this will take a long time (cant rememeber how
long but quite long).

Is this normal? Is it not possible to delete a file small in size in a
shorter period of time?
Why the whole disc should be deleted to delete only a single small file?

How do you tackle with the issue?

Because you selected "Erase Disk" and it's processing the entire recording
surface? Was there no option to simply "Delete File", as in right-clicking
the file in Windows Explorer, then selecting "Delete" from the
context-sensitive menu? This, of course would depend on how you burned the
file in the first place.

Yes I choosed complete erease, thinking that the simple erase option does
not really erease but keep it to be ereased later.
Like an implicit moving to the recycle bin, from where the real deletion is
to take place when the disc gets really full.

Ok, but then my problem solved because even if I do complete erease, it did
not take that long.
Although it said 4 hours or something, it took 15 minutes all of a sudden.
So its ok now.
thanks fro the reply.
