I wonder if someone can help me with how to get started
wring a book. I can set up a master document , through my
view menu & outline. But How do I break it into chapters
and pages. How many pages can I have

Assuming you are planning to use Word ... Best to discuss this in the
Word newsgroups.

That being said ... learn about and use Styles. Probably you'll wan to
make the chapter as "Heading 1", sections as "Heading 2", text as "body
text", etc.

Don't worry at all about page breaks. Let Word do the page breaks when
it paginates. You might want to set the style for Heading 1 (chapters)
to "page break before".

You can have more pages in Word than you can write!

Don't mess with master documents until you master Word more than you
have now. Write book with each chapter in a different file (for speed
and safety in case you lose a file). Ensure you back up files regularly!
