Writeprotection

When we writeprotect a word document we are prompt to write a password when
opening this document. When opening the same document from a html document
with a link to the docuement the document is opened in word, not
writeprotected.

The same does not accour if the docuement is password protected for opening.

HTML format does not support "Read-only recommended"

Good question :)

The answer is "No" and "Yes" :)

When you open an HTML document, the information is stored in HTML. That
does not store the "Read only recommended" property.

When you open the document in Word, Word internally converts the HTML to
Word Binary Format in memory. Word converts everything it opens into binary
in memory. That format will enable you to set Read-Only.

However, when Word re-saves the document to HTML, the Read-Only property is
removed, because the format doesn't support it.

If you were to save the document in .doc format, it would work because that
format can store the property.

Cheers
