Writeable CD drive suddenly Read-Only?

I'm sorry to say I made the mistake of a 2yr Norton Internet Security 2006
subscription. I've spent the last 8 days trying to get my computer back--no
exaggeration! Everything finally seems to work EXCEPT my writeable CD drive.
It's been saying it's Read-Only. I checked the Registry & it seems to be
set up ok.

When I try to backup quicken it says it's a read only drive. Even though I
never had to before, I used the Windows CD writing wizard & it will write new
files on the CD but it won't delete & it won't replace what's on there with
the new files.

HELP?????

Thanks,
sooz

I am not familiar with latest version of Quicken, however earlier versions
(2002) would not backup to a CD.
Regarding deleting and rewriting files to a CD - If you are using CD-Rs -
files cannot be deleted, however you can overwrite a file - for example,
file AJR is on the CD - you can overwrite that file with another titled AJR.

I want to thank all of you for such prompt & helpfuly replies. I need to
take some time to catch up on all the other stuff I haven't been doing while
trying to fix the computer & then will try the suggestions & let you know if
I'm back in the game!

Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
