i'm currently 25 dollars short of being able to get the home premium upgrade
and i was wondering if instead of waiting till i can if i could buy the home
basic and purchase the features i'd be missing out on with vista home premium
(seen the windows marketplace link on the downloads menu) was wondering if
this is how it worked?

I don't think you can buy the upgrades in bits and pieces. The upgrade
you would want would be to Home Premium. Honestly, I can't imagine why
anyone in their right mind would want Home Basic. I would simply wait
until you can afford Home Premium. This will give the driver mftrs. more
time to write drivers for your hardware.

Since you are obviously planning to upgrade, take the time to research
whether your computer hardware and peripherals (printers, scanners, PDA,
etc.) have Vista drivers yet. Also take the time to research whether the
software you use is Vista-compatible. You do all of this by going to the
various hardware and software mftrs.' websites.
