would like to export an address book created in excel to outlook

I would like to export an adress list I have in excell to oulook contacts.
When I try the import feature in outlook, I have an error message, something
about name ranges. Can this be done and if so how?

First export from Outlook into an XL file. Then set up the XL file you want
to import exactly the same way as the file exported from OL (same number of
columns with the exact same names). This will probably require you to
insert columns, move columns around.

If you have already done this and it is still causing errors, then please
forgive me. I don't know what else it could be.

With your Contacts info in columns in Excel..................

Name.........Address..........emaoil.........whatever

Save the workbook after giving your list a defined
name through Insert>Name>Define.

Outlook likes that.

With Outlook open go to File>Import Export>"Import from another program or file"

Follow your nose from there to choose your Excel workbook.

Note: the mapping can be done while importing.

To see the full list of fields Outlook has, export some of your your contacts to
a new Excel workbook to get an idea of what's available for mapping.
