Would like shortcut-to-folder to open in same Explorer window

Here's a Windows XP problem that has me scratching my head: If I create
a shortcut to a folder and then click on it, the folder view opens in a
new Explorer window. Regular folders open in the same Explorer window.

I have the Folder Options set to open each folder in the same window,
so that's not it.

It used to work--that is, clicking on the folder shortcuts would work
just like the real folders. Something changed on my system.

I've tried various Google searches and registry changes. I haven't
found the magic setting yet.

Thanks in advance for any tips that help find the right place to tweak.

Thanks for the help, Wesley! But...

samefolderwindow.reg here...
Open each folder in the same window

This page deals with problems opening Folders. My problem is with
opening shortcuts to Folders.

I loaded the registry file anyway, with no success. I even rebooted
after making the changes, to make sure they were applied.
Open folders in Windows Explorer mode by default (i.e. with folder pane
enabled)

Again, not relevant.
Hope this helps. Let us know.

If you have any other ideas, they would be welcome. I appreciate the
help and realize it's not an easy problem (I rarely post questions for
"easy" problems...).
