Would Like Opinions on Switching Our Network to Vista

Hello--

We currently run a network of 14 servers and about 100 workstations. All
servers run on Windows 2003. Our Exchange version is 2003 and all of our
workstations run on Windows XP.

I watched an MS video that stated that MS Mainstream support for XP will end
4/2009, and so the question has come up with our IT management of when and if
we should upgrade all of our workstations to Vista.

I know this is an internal decision, but would like anyone in the forum's
input on their experience of doing this, and what can we expect if we don't
upgrade and stay on XP.

Many thanks,

sd

There will still be support for XP(in one form or another) until 2013.
All you have to do is read the issues that turn up here, to make up your mind.

Mick--

I appreciate your response however, if all I did was watch this forum I
would only get a sense of the "issues" that folks are having. I don't believe
anyone posts here saying how well their system is running. It's sort of like
watching the news to see what the world is like. All you get is the bad.

I am also hoping someone did a network-wide migration to Vista and can share
that experience.

Thanks again,

sd

Hi
Sooner or later you would have to migrate.
So it is a good idea to make an assessment on what it means to upgrade your
specific network in terms of financial and other resources. Then make a
sound decision pending financial and timing consideration as pertaining to
your organization.
It is better to upgrade according to your agenda, Not in the last moment
when you have No other choice and it might be the worst moment in your
organization for upgrading.

I'm wondering if anyone in the forum has been involved in a network-wide
migration to Vista?
