Workload when moving accounts to a new domain

I have a single forest, single domain and I am planning to setup a separate
domain for 'students'. The student domain would be a one-way trusting the
staff domain.
I would need to move about 15,000 user accounts from existing domain to
student domain and also move about 3,000 computer accounts.

I see that ADMT should be able to move user accounts. How about computer
accounts ? When you move computer accounts to the new domain, do you expect
lots of glitches after that moving operation ?

Yes.

When you move computer accounts to the new domain, do you expect
lots of glitches after that moving operation ?

Not as many as when you move the users <grin>
(Be sure to fix up the DNS on the clients machines.)

Have you a compelling reason for this?

Why not just place them in separate OU(s)?
