Working Remotely (Accessing from a University)

I want to be able to access my computer at home from
CSUF. I will be needing to do this strictly through the
internet, because I do not have proper privledge levels to
install any software on the computers at school. Using
Remote Desktop only works within the same LAN, and not to
connect to other networks (correct me if I'm wrong). I've
also heard that if I use PcAnywhere, I would have to
install software on both ends (on my computer at home, and
at the computer I'm trying to access, from. What I want
to be able to access, is both my files and my
applications. If there's a way to achieve this, please
let me know. Send me an E-mail and explain the process in
DETAIL. Thanks.

I'm able to connect to my home computer from college just fine. What gave
you that idea?

You can use Remote Desktop if the home PC is running XP
Pro. Is that the case? If so, look at these pages for
help...

e/remotedesktop/default.asp

tedesktop.asp

If the home PC is behind a firewall/NAT/router then you
need to forward/open TCP Port 3389 to the private LAN IP
of the target PC. Call using the public IP of the
firewall/NAT/router.
