Workgroup not Accessible

E

Evan Gordey

I am having issues with a couple windows 2000 computers
not being able to browse the workgroup on my network. I
do run a PDC and it is also my DHCP server, but the
computers I have issues with are not a member of the
domain, I just want them to be a member of the workgroup.

I am able to ping/search/manually browse to these
computers, but not able to have these computers browse
the workgroup (computers near me). I read this has
something to do with the browse master, so I made sure
Netbios was enabled over tcp/ip on the dhcp server and
restarted all the computers.....to no avail.

If you have any idead what my issue is please help.
I am running mostly windows 2000 machines with a few
winxp laptops.

Unless you have any restrictions it would be a good idea to have the remaining users added to the domain

It means that you dont have to go all over the place to find information on the system and managability will be on your side

If you set up new computers and users in Active Directory, you will then be able to nicely configure them to have access to whatever files/folders you wish
