I have recently purchased a laptop for my business use. The company
work for has an existing local network connection that has aut
connected to my laptop when I first connected. Upon bringing my lapto
home and trying to access my home local network, it didn't recognize m
existing workgroup at home and still showed my local network folder
for work. I can see the computers in the group but cannot access th
shared files and printers that I can with the other computers in m
home.

Do I have to set up a different connection? How do I get my compute
to recognize the correct workgroup between home and work

Try doing network setup wizard, while at both or either of the place (mostly
both or home) to see if this fixes it.

I use a thirdparty product called MultiNetwork Manager 7
from GlobeSoft, It's very easy to use with its autodetect
functionality and yet very powerful for the more advanced
user
You will find it a twww.globesoft.com

I fought with this problem off and on for over a year after switching
from Win98 to XP Pro, basically believing that even MS couldn't have
screwed up such an obvious need. Anyway, after too many lost weekends
and numerous posts in this NG, I tried MultiNetwork Manager and have
been very pleased. Still irritates the hell of me that I have to pay
for a 3rd party solution (even though it is fairly priced and a good
product), but at least I can switch back and forth w/o a lot of
overhead now.
