hi,

Q1. is there a command or an add-in available that saves word documents
(.doc) such that when a email recepient opens the .doc file in WordXP it can
only be read and not edited. like the .pdf documents? Or can 'read only' .doc
files /documents be created using WordXP?

Q2: is there a utility or add-in available that enhances the ability of
WordXP, watermarking facility? such that the watermark can be placed anywhere
on the document.

thanks for your replie/s.

There might be different solutions, but it depends on why you want to do
that,.
Tell us a bit more.

Watermarks can be placed anywhere...

Insert a regular watermark.
Then, open the header (View > Header and Footer)
Select the watermark and move it around... or change its size, colours, etc.

What is your specific problem?

No! ANY document you allow someone to see can be edited - and that includes
PDF.

A watermark is simply an image, usually faded, and placed in the page header
with its layout option set to 'behind text'. As such you can place it or
move it wherever you require.

thanks for your replies. i have no specific problem, i am just trying to
create an uneditable word document like .pdf using adobe. i.e. a "read-only"
document.

and for the watermark, i wasn't sure it could be moved once placed on a
word document.

all my Qs, answered thanks.

As I said. There is no such thing as a 'read only' document. You can only
make it a little more difficult for the reader to edit the document.
