I have a Presario desktop product #DM173A-ABA with
Windows XP. How do I create a new document in wordpad?
Everytime I try to create a new document it opens in
notepad.
 
start button
all programs
accessories
wordpad

or

rename the .txt file to .doc

thing you already know.......
you can copy/paste textpad text into wordpad
also paste print screen items into wordpad.

Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP
SP1)

If you have not installed SP1, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Make a 'template' document by running Wordpad, File - New - set anything
like Font as desired, and Save As. Give it a convenient name like
Wordpad_document.doc

Now open TweakUI to the Templates page, click Create, and browse to the
document you just saved
