When I try ti read a document in wordpad I get a error message that it is not
able to load the graphics conversion table, hence I usually can't get
anything but a blank document. What could be the problem? By the way I'm
running XP Pro.

Don't bother with Wordpad - get yourself a free MS Office-compatible Office
suite:
www.openoffice.org

This error occurs when you try to open a Microsoft Word document in wordpad,
which has graphical objects.

You can download OpenOffice as said by Gordon or can use Word Viewer, if you
just want to view, print and copy the contents of the file. Below is download
