Wordpad bug

I use Wordpad about 100 times a day, it's pretty much perfect for editing
HTML and Perl scripts and such. There's only one super-annoying bug in
Wordpad: every time I save the file I'm working on, the text jumps up in the
window, so the cursor will be in the top row. I see no good reason why
Wordpad is doing this, and it can be very confusing when you edit a script,
you'll have to find your place in the text every time. You edit, you save,
you upload, test, and want to go back where you left off, but it's not easy
with the "jump feature". I only use plain text mode, no formatting, no rich
text, only .txt or .html or .cgi. For some reason Microsoft doesn't recognize
plain text as a valid option, they want you to format, like it or not.
Previous Windows versions were supplied with a Wordpad that asked every
single time if you're sure you want to save your file without formatting. Now
I have XP, and Wordpad now lets me save text files without asking first, but
the old bug has been replaced with the text-jump. I've tried Notepad, it's
not good for finding and replacing spaces and tabs. I also tried to buy third
party text editors, but so far I haven't found anything better then Wordpad.
Anyone knows of a similar plain text editor that works? Or a fix for the
Wordpad bug? Thanks...

Use it all the time and far superior to any other plain text editor.
Unless, of course, you have a UNIX background in which case use
Emacs.
