WORD2007 crashes saving attachments

I can open and read WORD email attachments, but when I try to save them WORD
crashes, then reopens in file recovery mode. Happens every time. Any
solutions?
 
It has always been bad practice to open e-mail attachments directly in Word.
Save the attachment to the hard drive and open it from there.
