I have been working on a paper and several times I have
been interrupted by MS stating that my usage time has
been terminated. I try to recover and then I'm shut down.
What's this all about.

Huh? Easier solution:

Somebody has put time limits on his account. They need to be lifted.

If this is the OP's computer, they should be able to do it using the
administrator account; if it belongs to the school then the OP is
probably SOL. Some schools do this so user's don't hog a computer for
long periods of time. It may seem shitty, but what are you going to
do? Obviously they have a reason behind it.

I doubt it's a virus, as I've never heard of a virus that affected
Word in this way.

Now, if it's shutting down the system due to RPC call, OK, then it's
the Blaster virus - but I didn't read that anywhere in the original
post.
