I am typing a word document and would like to type the word Illinois once and
have it populate into 5 different areas on the word document without having
to type it in all five times

Hi Debbie-

If you frequently need to create docs identical to others but containing
information about different people, places, or things, you might want to look
into creating a Template file. In a template you can include 'fields' that
perform exactly as you describe. Each new document is like a form based on
your template & starts off the same way. You then enter the necessary info,
but much of the entry is 'automated' based on the design of the template &
the use of fields.

OTOH, if you just want to avoid typing the word Illinois 5 times in a
once-in-a-lifetime document, its hardly worth the effort to use fields.
You're better off to just bite the bullet and do the typing.

From another perspective, should you simply need to use the same content
routinely in a variety of different documents, you may benefit from AutoText
or AutoCorrect in order to expedite entry of repetitive content.

Templates, fields, AutoText & AutoCorrect are all fully documented in Word
Help. Should you run into any difficulties, someone will be happy to help you
out.

Good Luck |:>)
