Word won't let me open

Word won't let me open a DOC. that I typed 2 days ago. Says that it is
either in error or in another program? Don't understand that. I was told
that I need to download a viewer off-line? Is that right, and if so why. It
also won't let me reinstall Word 09 so I still have lost Office, PowerPoint
and Excel...What do I do?

Re-installing Word rarely achieves anything useful - but you should be able
to repair it from the original installation disc. The problms are however
more likely to be concerned with user setup files - especially the normal

It sounds as though the document in question is corrupt. Did you perhaps
save it to removable media?
