Word will not open

I had microsoft office 2000 installed, and one day microsoft word just would
no longer open. If I try to open it, a blank box appears on my screen as if
the program is about to start, but will just stay there forever, no error
messages, nothing. I've recently upgraded to Microsoft Office Enterprise
2007, and again, all other applications work with no problem, but Microsoft
office will not open. Please Help!!

Put the Office 2000 CD in, read the prompts. I think one of the options is
Remove/Repair - that's the one you want to use.

ya... so i didn't do that.. i tried a couple of things suggested on this

Please bear in mind that this is what *I* would do. Someone else may have
other/better suggestions.

Back up data files, uninstall both versions, install Office 2000, install
Office 2007 - in that order.

OK I see you have tried that - though I still suspect that user settings may
be at issue
I seem to recall that an update to Word 2000 would kill pirate copies of
Word 2000, but this should not have affected an installation of Word 2007,
which is why user settings seem the most obvious cause.
Try also updating or reinstalling the default printer driver and the display
driver on which Word relies heavily..
