Word tries to open PDF files

I have had Word 2003 and Adobe 7 on my computer for years with no problems.
Suddenly when I try to open a PDF file it tries to open in Word and I get
the small "File conversion" window open in the blank Word window. Something
changed that I can not figure out. Please help if you can.

I have a second computer that opens PDF files with Adobe 7. I compared the
PDF file conversion settings on both computers and they are the same .

Your file associations got confused. Somewhere something/someone told it to
open .pdf files in Word.

your help.
