Word to PDF to MOSS. What happens to the document properties?

All,

I'm building documents in Word 2007, saving them as PDF, uploading the PDFs
to SharePoint 2007, and finally entering metadata on the document through the
SharePoint content type for the document library.

If I were uploading the documents into SharePoint as a Word file, the
metadata would be captured in the Word document's properties. But since I am
uploading these documents as a PDF does anyone know if the metadata still
become part of the PDF document? If so, how do I get to the metadata outside
of SharePoint?

Sorry for the multiple postings - when I tried to post it said the post
