Word table text to FP content

I have a table of information (sent to me by someon) that I want to keep in
the table and insert into FrontPage (2003). The destination table has the
same number of columns.

When I try to paste ... it inserts only into one table cell and distributes
its own cells into that cell.. I even tried to convert to tabbed text (from
the table) then pasted to frontpage, but then, all the text pastes into one
cell.

I believe I should be able to do this. I welcome ideas.
Thanks.

Hi
Create a table in FP and copy the text from the word table first into
wordpad to remove any formatting then into the FP tables.
I have never had success with cutting and pasting word tables into FP, there
is a lot of word formatting which just doesn't work as html.

I agree, that the coding from word to frontpage is very junky. I'll give
your suggestion a try tonight.
Thanks for the suggestion ... will let you know it works.

It just occurred to me ... that maybe, maybe, maybe ... I could save the
word file as an html file. Have you ever tried that?

Yes, I have saved Word pages consisting of tables as html FILTERED, and they
worked in FrontPage. However, I copied the whole table from Word so I don't
know about trying to copy text from the Word table into an existing FrontPage
table.
That said, I usually create tables direclty in FrontPage.
Or you can use your Word table to make a quick-and-dirty html table like
this: In Word, insert a column to the left that says <tr><td> in every cell;
columns between your columns that say </td><td> in every cell; and a column
to the right with </td></tr> in every cell. Copy the whole thing into
Notepad; then copy from Notepad into your html code between <table> and
</table>. Your opening table tag should have formatting; FrontPage will help
you with this.
Good luck!

I too, usually create my tables in frontpage. This particular circumstance
is unusual. I created the table (it's a contact list for a choir). The
director decided to send me a word file, in stead of just the changes. So
.... rather than retyping the whole thing into the table I'd nicely created,
I'm trying to find a way to fit the word table into my frontpage table. It
doesn't look like it's going to be easy, but you've given me something to
think about. Thanks for the response.
