Microsoft Word's custom dictionary feature seems to be added just so you can
get rid of those red lines without changing your words. It does not allow for
any creativity for new words to be created! I am trying to write a story that
has places and names that are made-up but MS Word has no functionality to
define how these words and names "behave" as in whether they are a place
name, person's name or a racial identity. This lack of functionality in
Microsoft Word is frustrating because I am not a confident story writer and
so when I go to check my grammar, Word gives incorrect suggestions because it
does not understand the "behaviour" of the word, what the gender is and so
on. Just a simple series of check boxes that define the "behaviour" of a word
when it is entered in the custom dictionary would be sufficient, i.e. if it
is male/female/neuter, singular/plural etc.
I am using Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003. Microsoft Word
2003
I would appreciate any feedback from anyone who feels this is a valid desire
or if they have any suggestions.
