WORD PAD IS LOCKED

I HAVE A NEW COMPUTER WITH VISTA BASIC. SUDDENLY WORD PAD IS LOCKED SO THAT
I CANT MAKE CHANGES TO DOCUMENTS. HOW CAN I FIX THIS?

Do you mean Wordpad won't open or when you open documents you can't save
edits?

If you can't open Wordpad I don't know but if your files are from your old
computer make sure you have the correct permissions over the files.

It might also have something to do with your keyboard being broken <g>

Try SFC. Perhaps wordpad is corrupt.

Type cmd in Search box>rt. click>run as admin.>at prompt type "sfc /scannow"
no quotes.

Can you give some more details? Locked, covers a wide range of conditions,
is the file you have open read only or are the permissions not set properly?
Are you seeing any error messages?
 
SINCE I BOUGHT THE NEW COMPUTER ON 4/12 I HAVE GENERATED A NUMBER OF NEW
DOCUMENTS WHICH I HAVE BEEN EDITING OVER A FEW DAYS. SUDDENLY YESTERDAY WHEN
I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE MORE CHANGES,SUCH AS BACKSPACING, I GET A MESSAGE SAYING
THAT FUNCTION IS NOT ALLOWED BECAUSE THE DOCUMENT IS LOCKED
 
Sounds like you have multiple copies of the same document opened at the same
time. Might have the same root cause as your broken keyboard.
