word pad doc

Hi, I have explorer 6.0. The question is when a try to open a wordpad doc
type file on the web it will not open what I get is a little box in the upper
left corner with symbols in it no text on the page. I am having no problem
with html files. I have windows Me and Word 2000. Theres probly a simple
explanation ,but nothing I can find . Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

If unsuccessful with those procedures, you might try a repair of IE:
