Word opens with no Menu Bar

Recently downloaded Service Pack for Windows XP. Then
installed Microsoft Office 2000. I did this several
times (I uninstalled, then re-installed) and the same
problem occurs. My computer has Microsoft Windows XP.
Problem: Word only opens as a 'view' file. No Menu bar
at all. Note: Excell and Access were installed properly
and I can open and view tool bars.

Why am I having this problem?

Try pressing alt c to exit full screen view

Then close Word normally.

Sounds like Word was exited while it was still in full screen view and
is remembering that.
