Word NOT remembering Spelling & Grammar Settings

I'm working in Word 2003 and I have tried to set the following options to ON
in the Spelling & Grammar tab "Ignore word in Uppercase," and "Ignore words
with numbers," however, the options keep going back to OFF.

How do I get Word to remember the options that I've set????

Please HELP!!! (Am I going crazy?)
 
You should have a Normal.dot file. Open that and make the changes save and
close. Then reopen word. Changes should be saved now.
 
I tried that and it did not work. I also renamed the normal.dot and let word
create a new one but the options keep going back to off. Is there anything
else i can do? My co-worker has those options checked by default and I don’t
understand why my options wont stick.
