Word made web page displays ? instead of apostrophes and spaces on

I'm trying to use Word 2002 SP3 to create a webpage and have encountered a
problem.

Everything looks fine when I view the file on my hard disk using Word or IE.
However, after I upload the file, when I view it with IE, apostrophes and
multiple spaces appear as questions marks. [ex.: john's => john?s]

I don't know if this is a Word problem or something else, but any help would
be appreciated.

I was using Times New Roman and Arial.

In any event, I think I got things fixed. I set both the web encoding in
Word and the encoding in my FTP software to Unicode rather than Windows/ANSI
and that seemed to do the trick.
