Word Macros in Outlook 2007

In Office 2003 I could record/write macros in Word to do formatting type
stuff. Then in Outlook these were available (because word was the editor).
Graet. But in 2007 the word macros aren't available in Outlook - how do I
enable them??

You'll need to enable the Developer tab. To do so, open a new mail
window, click the Office button and then Editor options. Under
Personalize, select "Show Developer Tab". Then take a look at the
Developer tab and see if that gets you what you are looking for.
Outlook uses the file NormalEmail.dotm btw whereas Word uses
Normal.dotm.

Done that-but it doesn't have the functionality of the word one. Can't
record/create etc. Also opened NormalEmail.dotm and my word macros are
available in that, but not when I write emails

Hi David,

If you create a Macro in Word and save it in NormalEmail.dotm, does it
appear on the Macros lists in Developer tab, Macros?

Hi Patrick
Thanks for responding to this - much appreciated.

I created a macro in word 2007 - when I open NormalEmail.dotm the macro is
there on the developer tab. In Outlook the developer tab when you click macro
there is no option to create one (greyed out) and the only macro listed is
the outlook 'ThisOutlookSession.SetDateReceived'

Certainly NormalEmail.dotm is being used by Outlook (word will only let me
open it as read only until I close Outlook). I've set Macro security in
outlook to its lowest level - but no difference.

Any Word macros that you want to run in Outlook to handle formatting chores will need to be placed in the Outlook VBA project and adapted to work with the Document object returned by the GetInspector.WordEditor method for the desireed item.

FWIW, there apparently is a bug in Beta 2 that causes macros from Normalemail.dotm to display in the Outlook 2007 VBA environment on some machines. This shouldn't happen once the bug is fixed.
