word locked for edit

I cannot use word at all - whenever I type anything, there is a message at
bottom that say "locked for edit". When I checked the Help button, it told
me to go to "outline" and then... But, It won't let me even get to outline.
How do I unlock it?

Have you activated the package? Try clicking Help > Activate Product.
