Word keeps Changing its Format

We have SBS at all of our schools that are very small. I say this because
the problem I am having is only on SBS systems.

Whenever we save Word it changes the fonts, size of fonts, etc.

Than it adds some Web File junk between the lines.

Example:

There are other kinds also.

//Html: sometimes appears between sentences.

How do I stop this from happening?

you are running Word 2000, correct?

Does the content of the file change right when you hit the SAVE button,
or only after re-opening the document?

In the latter case, could be a "Recover text from any file" filter at
work ...
