Word is lagging

Hello,

I am at work and I am finding that Word is starting to lag a lot. I did some
searching and found that people had to go into task manager to manually close
down any left over WINWORD.EXE processes. I think that is the root of my
problem--I am always finding winword.exe processes in the task manager even
though I have closed Word. Once I end the task Word works fine once I
restart, but it happens at least 3-5 times a day.

How can I prevent this/fix the problem?

Which Word version?
I suspect the problem may be related to using Word as editor for Outlook.
Change Outlook to use its own editor and see if the problem is resolved.
