Word 2007 - lag time after typing

I have been using Word 2007 for over a year now. Lately I have noticed that,
occasionally, there is a lag time between when I type and when the characters
appear on the screen. It can be very frustrating.

I can definitely tell you that this happens right after I use the Thesaurus.
And, once I close the Thesaurus frame and click on a tab to close the
"Review" tab, the lag stops. But, lately this lag has been happening when I
am just writing a document and with more frequency.

Is there some process or service running that I am not aware of that I can
turn off? I don't have any other applications open when I am doing this and
experiencing the lag.

Any ideas out there?

After looking at this problem again, it came to light that these lag problems
started around the same time as when the ASP.Net State Services was turned on
for a web application testing assignment. Stopping the Service resulted in MS
Word operating normally with no lag when typing.

It is easy to turn the Service back on when the application needs to be
tested or worked on in some other way.
