Word:How do I introduce separate page numbering for different sect

I am trying to introduce separate (i.e., start over at 1) page numbering for
different sections of a document. Essentially, the document has a preface, a
table of contents, and some other "pre-content-content". I want the
pagination on THESE pages to be separate from the REAL content, which starts
with page 1.

What is the best way to accomplish this using word?

You'll need to insert a section break (Insert>Break) between the TOC, for
example, and the body of the report. Then go to the header or footer of the
report (wherever you have your page numbers--View>Header/Footer) and click
the Same As Previous icon, which will tell Word to not grab the info. from
the previous page. If you've already inserted page numbers, delete them in
the body of the report and then re-insert them (telling Word at what number
to begin). Good luck!
